Limb lengthening is a complex procedure carried out in three stages and followed by a lengthy rehabilitation period. It is most commonly performed on people with achondroplasia. For children with achondroplasia, the decision to undergo the procedure is made by their parents. Dema is currently undergoing the second stage.
